How to Score a Movie

Nick enlightened and entertained an enthusiastic group at the salon last night with his depth of knowledge and engaging, conversational style. He used an electronic keyboard and the Microscopic Theater's big TV screen to illuminate the method he uses to score movies. He displayed a sample of the software he uses, and then treated us to a complete short comedy/horror piece he'd scored. One high point in the presentation was when Nick played a news program taken at random directly off television and then added music live, on the spot, to completely change the emotional impact of the piece -- pretty amazing what music can do in the hands of an expert!
